While we were in Nosara, we were amazed by the variety of animals that were exotic to us!

The monkeys were SO brave!

At the Gilded Iguana, a monkey came daily to eat the leaves and fruit off of a tree in the yard (Picture 2.20). At the end of the week, the tree was bare and the monkey moved on to the next tree.

There is a restaurant, The Harbor Reef, that cares for injured or orphaned monkeys (Picture 2.18). The two monkeys that currently live there walk around freely and greet visitors. Also residing at the Harbor Reef is a toucan (Picture 2.19) and a chachalaca (Picture 2.21).

Nosara is home to many iguanas and lizards. Young iguanas are green and hide in the vegetation while the brown adults spend time on branches and trunks of trees

There is some cattle ranching in the Nosara area, with Brahma cows being the breed of choice.

On our kayaking trips down the rivers, we saw many water birds like herons, kingfishers, and cormorants.

Look carefully!
